LOOPSLIDER 2000

Dev time: Nov 18, 2023- Nov 21, 2023: 3 days

Inspired by oscilloscope deconstructions and old VST plugins like Delay Lama and Meowsynth, Loopslider 2000 is a sequencer that splits four classic Nintendo DS tracks into their constituent parts, then allows the user to manually control the volume of each instrument, allowing for real-time mixing and remixing of tracks!

SPOTLIGHT: THE SETUP

Loopslider 2000 was a small exercise that ended up becoming something much larger than intended. While the end result may not *look* like much, the real action is all under the hood. It was put together in only three days; during that time, multiple pieces of software had to be used to get the audio files in a usable format. First, a DS cartridge dumper had to be used to copy the game file onto the computer, where two more software were used- one to isolate the music files, and another to play them and export them as .WAV files. Finally, Audacity was used to render the files loopable and split off any intro segments, at which point they were finally in a usable format for implementation into the game.
