Cloudstone Keep

Cloudstone Keep is a PS1/PS2- themed 3D environment created in 3DS Max and implemented in Unity. It tells a short story of a lighthouse keeper that lives in a medieval port town atop a tall mountain. The town is home to a small but bustling trading hub, servicing the airships that navigate the floating islands to get there… during the day, that is. Now, it’s past midnight, and you’ve spent a little too much time at the pub.
SPOTLIGHT: THE world
Every 3D model in Cloudstone Keep was made by me from the ground up. The models were created in 3DS Max, where I also edited their UVs and smoothing groups. I then exported them to my image editing software, FireAlpaca, where I composed the textures using real-life images of objects. After the images were color-corrected and rasterized, I exported them and the 3D models, imported it all into Unity, created materials from the textures, then finally brought them all together in the scene (After creating the mountain with Unity’s terrain tools). Then, I put a few finishing touches: a night skybox, some emissive fire particle effects for the lanterns and the lighthouse, and some immersive night sounds.
